Quiet day. Nugget and 14 evo. Big , big swell. Some say double over head at occa point. Blue reef as big as I have seen. Proably some overhead. Not enough wind to ride waves - just a bit too much current in the power zone but good to be here. First round of bunkus. Roast suckling pig and bin tang. It's a great day

Hey Eddie where ya finding ya suckling pig man. Yeh had to do the damn waterbom park ritual plus shopping with the kids today, my version of hell. But hey, just had three glorious days of wind, with plenty of wind out there. Dropped off today a bit it seems. Yeh first time out at occa yesterday arvo, been out for 3 hours before hand did not have much in the tank. Sweet spot hey, flat of the inside some decent waves outside. Yeh special spot but ya don't wanna fk up hey. Was a bit warey on an over head wave on a zephyr.... See ya Monday or hopefully Sunday arvo, gotta do the damn abudh or however you spell it tomoz. Another version of sight seeing hell for me. Keep the beers cold, next wind Lks like it might be a ripper....

Mate. You've been reined I reckon. But you had a good start by the sound of it. Even though the wind is thin ,the waves make up for it. Need to talk to bobby about the pig. Heading down to rip curl for a beer soon. I think we are at the same place. Cheap cocktails at 6 down there somewhere. The wife might like that? Have managed to miss Ubud,so far. Get it out of the way before next week I reckon.

Gonna miss it man, bro and dad here at 6 and I think they want to eat plus the kids will want to eat by then. KIDS! Tomoz for sure. Yeh ya right pretty light, didn't stop tony throwing down some back roll back loops on his 19m edge in 8 knots. WTF! Impressive but don't tell him might get a big head. Lets say its an impressive kite. Lol.

Hello friends, here are the wind report from last week.. You can find this report every day in our Facebook group " Kitesurf Bali ". ALSO FYI: The weather station at the new airport is now reading the wind correctly! Probably they move it as before it would never give correct data: http://www.windfinder.com/weather-maps/report/indonesia#10/-8.7494/115.1601 We have now 2 active weather station in Bali for real wind report. 13 July Wind Report - 1 Star day! Wind started quite early at 07:30 about 9 up to 14 knots and stayed like that pretty much all day... Between 12:15 and 13:30 it increase 2 knots but then back off again.. Waves big head high to over head, big current. 12 July Wind Report - 2 Star day! Wind picked up nicely at 11:15 about 10 up to 14 knots, got stronger at 12:30 about 12 to 18 knots and then dropped at 15:45 to not much for 30 minutes and when we tough it was end of the game it came back strong again... Waves bigger waist to head high.. 11 July Wind Report - 2 Star day! After another crappy weather morning wind picked up nicely at 12:15 about 12 up to 18 knots, dropped at 16:15... Waves still smallish around knee to waist! 10 July Wind Report - Stormy kiting day. 1 Star. Windy since morning (09:00) about 10 up to 14 knots, got a bit better around 14:00 with couple of extra knots. Waves a bit bigger around waist to shoulder. For me 14m kite and Minimal.. 09 July Wind Report - Stormy kiting day. Still 2 Stars. Kitesurfing under the rain in July is something new but this year is what it is and we take everything... Windy yince early morning (07:00) UP and DOWN as various squalls keep passing by. Mostly between 9 up to 20 knots with changes in direction. I had a first session at 11:00 for about 1 hours then big rain came and for 1 hour wind was totally gone. Went out again around 13:00 and wind was a bit lighter but steady around 12-16 knots. Lots of banana tree debris in the water. Waves small around Knee to waist high still fun on Minimal.. 08 July Wind Report - OK day. 2 Stars. Since early morning (08:34) wind a bit light at 10 to 14 knots again very South! Then drop a but around lunch time and came back up stronger at 13:45 at around 13 to 18 knots till 16:15 when it drop back to 10-14.. Waves small around Knee to waist high. 07 July Wind Report - Good day. 2 Stars. Since early morning (07:00) wind at 12 to 17 knots very South! Some gust up to 20 knots around lunch time. Waves small around Knee to waist high. Fun on Minimal and 11m Drifter. Bye Jankie

FORGOT.... Small explanation about the difference of real time wind reading between the station at the Airport and the one at Sanur. At Weather station Airport there is only one line on the graph and I think is about the high wind at the moment of reading even if it say average.. Our Sanur WS has 2 lines on the graph that show max and average wind.. As our station is on a 6 meters pole that swing a bit in the strong wind. We have 10 minutes average. The lower line it show the bottom of the wind instead of average.. This is confirm from our hand held wind meter and years of kiting in Sanur.

The more I use the more I like. Really dialling into the jumping of it now, each time going bigger which is good. Its got enough edge to give you that apparent wind efficiency but enough depth in the profile to give you that static grunt you want...especially stable and predictable. Chalk and cheese the earlier models to this one. You gotta adjust though, its not an edge. You won't ride as fast, nor will it be as efficient. Once you have adjusted its actually my favourite kite right now. Can't wait to get back on it. Been perfect for Bali even in the higher teens. And I'm on a light wind cruiser 145 by 44. Could easily have got on a smaller TT at times, but as I said it has enough edge DNA to get it around the window to spill air. The static grunt comes on when you want it from the bar, push it away and it moves to a nove position in the window even when lit of your ass. Its not the edge boost, but you go way more vertical. Easier to time especially off the lip of a wave. Wasn't to shabby in the waves either...for a 17m of course. Turns much faster than the edge, but who gives a fk, those kooks who say the edge doesn't turn fast enough, do not understand the edge. No need to turn a kite fast when its near nigh a perfect wing. But for back roll back loops and roll loop transitions the zephyr is awesome. Just a constant smooth pull. The power comes on to like the edge, real smooth and graceful. None of that **** for brains grunt I feel in a lot of kites. Nah real happy ste, and again I insist smaller sizes would be great sellers and fill that gap between the C ed up cat and the full blown flat edge. Sorry couldn't resist I'm adamant.

Concur with Eppo. My style - soul/ wave. It's the new style coined by Puetz and self. Don't do much jumping so can't comment on that. Just got the Zephyr 2 days ago to fill the light wind gap based on great reports and am stoked with it. It is a complete kite it seems for our conditions. Have been riding it in Sanur on TT and sb. Has a great wind wind range , feels solid yet dumps power well , turns very quickly for a big kite, felt right from the first time I launched it. Even had some fun in the waves today . It's the best big kite I have used by far.

I think puertz (robbie) summed it up when he said, "there is nothing I can fault on this kite, there is always something you don't like about a kite but this kite has nothing I can fault". Watched the big boy in the surf yesterday he was throwing that zephyr around like a bloody 10m, and it didn't fold! Then later was going upwind on a TT and it wasn't blowing that strong. Off a wave platform the other day I got near edge like air, not quite but close. Each time a ride the higher and longer I go. I have a new definition of Farqed today! Could hardly walk back to the villa.

Amen Eppo..... 10m kite stay at home unless you are 50 kilos... Watch out that surfer in Canggu finally got really upset and they do NOT want anyone kiting at Tugu Hotel or Eco Beach. DO NOT GET TO CLOSE TO ANY SURFER OR SURF SCHOOL OR YOU WILL PAY THE CONSEQUENCES... There is no real Long Term forecast, already the one for next 24 hours are not that reliable. Windguru "Sanur" and Windfinder "Kendi Beach" are the one to look, from the way things look I would say another 4-5 days of wind and then Pause. We had wind pretty much no stop since the 30 of June so can't really complain! Bye Jankie

You will be disappointed with the wavekiting conditions coming from Gero Radman, especially on the Sanur side. If you are really lucky you MIGHT get a kite around Canggu but I reckon since you are travelling with the family and moving around a bit you are prob better off just doing the short board thing. I'll be there Sunday week for 3 weeks and will be taking it all SUP, surfboard and kites, but I will have a grunty 9 and 13, a good lightwind board (yep you know the one) and still won't be expecting to do to much kiting. I did have a few days fully powered on a 9 around the Canggu area (and a couple of Seminyak to Canggu DWers) at this time of the year a couple of years ago but last year barely got going on a 12 in 2 weeks at Balian and Canggu. I'm heading straight up Balian way for a few days first, then see how it goes, may leave the SUP behind and do a bit of Island hopping with 1 surfboard and 1 kite.

Bring ya zephyr mate for sure. Been here 10 days have kited 9 of them. There are kiting waves to be found around and beyond occa point, and some very sweet flat water around there as well. But SUP and short board for sure! If chasing serious short board surf waves then Sanur is not the go. But a decent sup waves for sure.

I normally head out to Balian for a wave but not this time. Had a bit of fun at Occa point last year, wish the direction was for more DTL riding tho. Sick of carting too much gear around with me so it's a TT holiday this time. (hope I remember how to ride it) Have they finished dismantling the shipwreck , nice wave caming off that as well? Usally hire a SUP from Jankie and yeah the waves around there can be good fun if you don't grind out on the reef.

Well 10 days in Bali and 9 days kiting. 5 hours today, Bali left me with a fine last day. Awesome spending time with robbie, tony, Eddie and the crazy Darwin crew. Made some great mates at the kite school, lounging around on the bean bags on the grass resting before the next session. Jesus it was good being warm again in the water. Had a great little wave session at occa today, followed by a crack on Tony's 19m edge, then finished it off with a freeride boost session near the wreck (which is still there). Ya right be awesome if it wasn't. Man that 19m edge is a sweet wing, for the first time all holiday was nicely overpowered!! Speed man. Bloody quick Turning to. Here's to next year, Perth at it 10 degrees awaits tomoz night. Damn! Take care crew Eppo

Good one Eppo. It's been a bit of fun. Reckon you might have got the best of it although I know you were looking for more. We are too. Always. That seems to be the tropics though. It's a great place to warm up and wind down. Big cruising kites and a few good size waves out the back. Up and down the coast. Bintang and nasi goreng. Wrapped in the Zephyr - thanks for the lead. Missed a good night at Ketut's warung. Fresh caught fish and sambal made by ketut and Putu Managed to leave before the arak took hold. Tony going well on the guitar. Puetz and I managed to stagger home.

... I can answer my own question,,,, winds have been great so far this year. If people can accept the fact that the wind might not have the power in it like home, you can have great fun. Big kites don't have to be boring at, I had a ball on the Zepher and this years version is great. I didn't get on with previous versions but they got it right now. Missus borrowed eddiemorgs and loved it, she is fussy in what she likes and likes this one for sure. cheers for now, Robbie

Yep would have been there, on the beach at night with a traditional Bali family eating and drinking, but alas my 5 and 6 yr old had other plans! Gotta love kids right?! Then again not sure I'd want an arak headache flying out today and knowing my true self I would have hit it hard...even played a few bad tunes on the gutiar! Lol. Until we meet again my northern brothers.

You mean 2013 zephyr right? A completely different kite man. To be quite honest I spent a bit of time on the old zephyr and didn't rate it, although there was a small window when it was great. New zephyr has a very different profile. They have blended in just enough edge DNA to give you that efficiency and upwind drive and yet still kept the stability of the old zephyr. Great blend of apparent wind build up and yet static grunt which affords incredible feedback to the rider throughout the window...watching a guy unhook the thing up here in Bali is testimony to that. I got on the 19m edge up here ( there was 15 different kites from different brands on the beach but the only one I wanted to try was the edge...I'm biased of course). Way more speed, better bottom end but surprisingly although I was going slower I tended to track upwind nearly as well or better...speed from the edge makes the window wrap back. But that being said you wouldn't win any races on the zephyr. , Jesus that 19m edge turns quick for its size, so nimble. Could have easily thrown down some backroll back loops, but heck wasn't my kite so as soon as my mind went there I got it of the water real quick! Not my kite! Upgrade is true, it is a definite upgrade by a long way.

... yep I agree, new Zepher is waaaaaay better, you got to try one Ian! I found it has good upwind, stable in the air and for me, stable in hard turns or hard edging. And really important to me, bar pressure/feel didn't change with the different power I demanded from it. Dare I say it, more of a Rebel feel!!! Anyway, its a really nice kite and I think you'll like it! Cheers for now, Robbie

Yeh good point robbie about the power change or lack of difference on the turn and in different parts of the window. Rebel feel? Yeh aspects I see what ya mean, but a little less spongy. I still find the rebel slightly spongy even with direct connections and no pulleys. That elastic thingy they have must cause it. But yeh a rock stable canopy like the rebel true dat. Any wind today bro? Hope you say no! Lol.
